Brazil: On 26 February 2004, around 0430 local time, a major fire broke out in the 22-story Electrobras building in Rio de Janeiro, located on the corner of Avenida Rio Branco and Presidente Vargas, one of the busiest sections in downtown Rio. There have been no reported victims from the fire, but firefighting officials are worried that the building could collapse due to the fire causing structural damage to the building. The fire has caused traffic to come to a standstill in the area.
